Thanks to this ad campaign (in conjunction with the Subaru logo and Australian flag having scattered star patterns), I used to think Subaru was Australian when I was a kid. I would also argue the "world's first sport utility wagon" claim. The AMC Eagle definitely came before the Outback. Any other contenders?

OH MY GOD I THOUGHT THE SAME THING. Didn't know Subaru was Japanese until about 7 years ago.

I just remember hearing about the *aussie accent* Subaru Outback, and thinking they were Australian...till about 2006. heh.
